Dahu is a fictive museum installation. It exists as a diorama created by a fabulated Swiss cryptozoological museum, intended to demonstrate the contested existence of this unbalanced chamois.
The Dahu is a legend that has existed in the Alps for more than a century, and one in which I believed for several years during my childhood. Over that same period, Swiss tourism has continuously exported an imaginary of Alpine landscapes as wild and untouched nature.
As inspiring as these dreams may be, they also keep us in a position of exceptionalism, preventing us from fully considering our entanglement with more-than-human beings.
